THE FIVE BEST RESTAURANTS IN PETTS WOOD

Fantastic dining experiences in London don’t always have to involve a lengthy journey into town. In Petts Wood and Orpington diners can find some of the most exciting cuisine around, making it a hot spot for first-rate nosh in South East London. Here are our top five restaurants in the area:

1. Cyprianis
Created by the owner of Ferrari’s Italian brasseries in Kent, Cyprianis Mediterranean bar is perfectly located just seconds from Petts Wood station. With slick monochrome décor and beautifully presented dishes, some of their most coveted cuisine ranges, from king prawn and scallop ravioli on a bed of butternut squash puree to Lamb Kleftiko, one of Greece’s most beloved meals. With relaxed ambiance in abundance, foodies will be spoilt for choice here – we recommend their indulgent Oreo cookie cheesecake to complete your perfect feast!

2. Osteria da Fabrizio
Experience an authentic Italian dining experience at Osteria de Fabrizio, situated on Orpington High Street. At reasonable prices, the menu is extensive and varied, including a giant selection of wines, catering for all types of diners. The most distinctive feature of Fabrizio’s is if you don’t have time to sit down, you can pick up fresh produce used by the chefs at their in-house deli counter and cook some tasty Italian food in the comfort of your own home.

3. Xian
This restaurant, described by television chef and South Londoner Gary Rhodes as his “favourite restaurant”, offers some of the best Cantonese food in London. Fresh, bursting with flavour and in generous portions, the menu offers some classic favourites and some innovative new additions to brave, all of the best quality – we promise you won’t be hungry again in an hour!

4. Üsküdar
Popular Turkish restaurant, Üsküdar, serves contemporary cuisine, blending aspects of Central Asian, Caucasian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and Balkan cooking. Although outwardly understated, once inside you are greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere – if possible, we recommend you grab a booth! From their magnificent Moussaka to their fabulous falafels, their menu has something tasty for everyone.

5. Indian Essence
Awarded the Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand in 2015 and 2016, Indian Essence on Petts Wood Road has the recipe for success. The clue’s in the name, with delicious nosh complimented with the essence of India but with a touch of something different. Take their Railway Lamb Curry for example – a dish described as ‘Anglo-Indian’ lamb rump curry, served with lamb samosa and masala roast potatoes… sounds delicious to us!
