PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN SHIRLEY

One of the many jewels in Shirley’s educational crown, St. Johns Primary School is a faith-based Christian school which can date its beginnings all the way back to 1834. The OFSTED ‘Outstanding’ school is guided by its motto, “Love to Learn and Learn to Love’, and implements a school-wide Golden Rule of “Love One Another’. 

The grounds include a Spiritual Garden, which acts a safe space for reflection and quiet time, as well as teaching children about the responsibilities for caring for the environment. Keen sportsters thrive in the school’s many clubs, which include swimming, gymnastics, netball and football.

As winners of the Croydon School of the Year 2016 and the recipient of a ‘Good’ OFSTED rating, places at Orchard Way Primary School are highly coveted by Shirley residents. Pupils are guided by the Orchard Way of Learning Skills (OWLS), which include: collaboration, engagement, imagination and resilience.

Rated as ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED, this mixed primary school is one of three in the Oasis Shirley Park trio, which also includes a secondary school and sixth form. The school motto, “Learning together, achieving forever”, was picked by its children and reflects the school’s ethos of inspiring a love for learning.
