MEET NICK VINCENT, PARTNER AT PROCTORS SHIRLEY

How long have you worked at Proctors?
I began my career at Proctors in 1992.

What’s your background? i.e. qualifications, past experience
After I finished school, I started working as an estate agent. I soon found out I was great at selling, and eventually decided to set up my own estate agency. After later selling my business, I joined the Proctors Partnership and the rest, as they say, is history. I am a member of the NAEA (National Assocation of Estate Agents) and of ARLA (Assocation of Residential Lettings Agents).

What does a normal day at work involve?
Generally running the Shirley office’s sales and lettings, as well as managing the office and overseeing of Proctors’ Land & Development and New Homes departments.

What do you find rewarding in your job?
I love working with people and really enjoy the task of helping individuals find their dream home or sell their property onto excited new owners. I’ve worked in this industry for a long time and I still get a buzz from it.

What, if any, are the challenges faced in your industry?
A lot of people don’t realise how much legislation there is surrounding lettings, which can sometimes complicate proceedings. Furthermore, GDPR has affected most businesses in this country. Proctors, like all estate agencies, has had to ensure we are completely compliant across the whole company and that has come with its challenges.

What’s your most memorable/favourite sale?
One of my most memorable sales was definitely working on one of Proctors’ largest ever land sales and then selling the newly built homes.

What is your favourite local restaurant?
I love Little Bay in Croydon.

What’s your dream home?
I don’t mind, so long as it’s overlooking the ocean.

If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Busy, driven, determined.

What are your interests outside of work?
My family and my lovely little dog Maisy.

What would people be surprised to know about you?
I have a gold medal in the cha-cha-cha.

What’s your biggest achievement?
My family: my wife Julie and our boys.

And finally,  we’re off to the pub - what’s your order?
A diet coke.
